Abstract

Within the framework of a regional project EMERA aimed at the development of an integrated hybrid plant based on only renewable sources, such as residual biomass and solar energy, activities related to the assessments on the state of bioenergy at different territorial levels with particular attention to the status of bioenergy in the Basilicata Region, Southern Italy, were carried out. The analysis was integrated by the definition of guidelines that address the logistical aspects for the supply of raw materials at a selected process site where a prototype plant was installed. The prototype plant is a small-scale gasification plant that aims to facilitate the spread of stand-alone and custom combined heat and power production. According to the results achieved, three promising areas were identified with respect to potentiality of supply and type of feedstocks. Moreover, based on the technical performance of the prototype plant, the potential number of plants that could be installed was calculated. © 2024, ETA-Florence Renewable Energies.
