Pulvirus at UNECE 3rd Expert Panel on Clean Air in Cities

The third workshop of the UNECE Expert Panel on Clean Air in Cities will take place on 29 November 2021, from 9:00 to 17:00 as a virtual webinar.

The objectives of the meeting will be to:

  -  increase the understanding of the update of the WHO guidelines and the lessons learned from emissions reductions during corona lockdown;
  - get a better insight in source apportionment and which models local governments can use to determine which measures are most effective in reducing concentrations and at what government level those measures can best be taken;
  -  exchange experiences, learn from each other and determine gaps in knowledge, tools and policies.

The workshop is divided in six parts:
    News – Updated WHO Guidelines and EU air quality revision.
    Source apportionment and multi-scale air quality modelling.
    Multi-level governance: cooperation between local and national level.
    Modelling and monitoring requirements for policies.
    Actions at the city level, experiences linking air and climate actions.
    What lessons can be learned from the emission reductions during the corona lockdown?

Ilaria D’Elia and Massimo D’Isidoro will present the work “The effects of lockdown measures on air quality in Italy based on model simulations” under Session 6 describing the Pulvirus project, the effect of lockdown measures on air quality based on model simulations and on environmental concentrations of greenhouse gases monitored at Lampedusa site.

It is possible to register for the Expert Panel on Clean Air in Cities by sending an email to roald.wolters@minienw.nl.
