The Third Global Authors Meeting of the Sixth Global Environment Outlook (GEO-6) was held at the Nansha Grand Hotel in Guangzhou, China from 9 -14 October 2017.
The meeting was co-organised by UN Environment and the China Southern (Nansha) International Cooperation Southern Centre with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China
The Global Environment Outlook (GEO) is a consultative, participatory process that builds capacity for conducting integrated environmental assessments and reporting on the state, trends and outlooks of the environment. The assessment is backed by a large body of recent, credible scientific evidence and has been developed through a robust intergovernmental and multi-stakeholder process. The GEO assessments, and their consultative and collaborative processes, work to bridge the gap between science and policy by turning the best available scientific knowledge into information relevant for decision makers. These reports provide world leaders with policy options to take immediate action to address environmental issues by turning environmental discussions into practice.
The ENEA researcher, contributing to drafting the “Chemicals” section of the report, attended the meeting in Guangzhou, aimed at advancing a draft to be submitted to the revision of scientists and of member states.
