The 38th EFFoST International Conference 2024 will be hosted by KU Leuven and UGent and will be held in the city of Bruges in Belgium from 12 to 14 November 2024. The EFFoST2024 conference will explore the theme “Future Food Systems: Innovation through Progress at Scientific Interfaces”. EFFoST2024 embraces the quintuple innovation helix framework, which involves university-industry-public-environment-government interactions. The conference strives to contribute to the overarching objective of generating sufficient, safe, nutritious and sustainable food with high consumer acceptance, for all individuals worldwide in line with the ‘one health’ concept as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO). World-renowned researchers, scientists, policy makers, professionals and students from multi-disciplinary food-related fields will share the latest developments. ENEA will participate at the EFFoST 2024 international conference with the contribution entitled "Improving Food Quality and Safety by Developing Innovative Antimicrobial Packaging Activated with Natural Bioactive Compounds" that will be presented by Dr. Valeria Poscente in the section “Microorganism interface - Innovative processes” as a Poster presentation on 12th November. The study explores the potential of antimicrobial packaging as an eco-friendly solution to extend the shelf-life of Italian Favette strawberries by functionalizing packaging materials with natural compounds.
